Who are we?
Husband & Wife...
with a little help of our friends.
Vira Lata is a roaming Modern Brazilian/Portuguese street food kitchen on wheels, with secret family recipes, a handmade ethic and street cred to match. Founded by Wife and Husband duo Taline & Carlo from a foundation of heritage & family culture, providing authentic and reworked versions of Brazilian and Portuguese classics. Vira Lata translates as the mixed breed dog that roams the streets, a metaphor to how the truck was created. Be on the look out for this stray dog on the streets of Melbourne serving up fresh, wholesome handmade Brazilian Portuguese goodness.
Head Chef & DJ
Carlo, who has a Portuguese heritage, explains that both he and his wife have “always dabbled in food.” They derive their food ideas from family recipes and travelling in Brazil.
"The original concept for his business comes from São Paulo’s sandwich culture" which explains why Vira Lata has its own take on sandwiches too, but with an extra gesture of care: "we make our sausages using Taline’s grandmother’s secret recipe" says Carlo.
Founder & Finance
If Carlo is the Chef, then Taline is the inspiration. Taline brought from Brazil the best flavours, most sustainable healthy food that you can find in the traditional Brazilian cusine.
Born in Minas Gerais state (the motherland of Pão de Queijo) and spending most of her childhood in Bahia, Taline moved to Australia almost a decade ago and her roots grew strong.
"I love my family and Vira Lata was a major dream come True." she says.
